چکیده
Abstract Extreme snow loads can collapse roofs. This load is calculated based on the ground (that is, water equivalent ground). However, (SWE) measurements are unavailable for most sites, while depth frequently measured and recorded. A new simple practical algorithm was proposed in this study to evaluate SWE by utilizing depth, precipitation data, wind speed, air temperature. For evaluation, classified as snowfall or rainfall according temperature, then corrected measurement error that mainly caused wind-induced undercatch, effect of loss considered. The developed applied validated using data from 57 meteorological stations located northeastern region China. annual maximum obtained compared with actual measurements. return period values were estimated those procedure suggested Chinese structural design code. comparison indicated use leads a good load. Its allowed estimation sites without facilitated hazard mapping.

Snow water equivalent (SWE) is important for investigations of annual to decadal-scale changes in A and energy-water cycles. Passive microwave satellite-based retrieval algorithm estimates of SWE now sp three decades. SWE retrievals by the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for the Earth Ob (AMSR-E) onboard the NASA-Aqua satellite ended at October 2011. A critical parameter in the AM gorith...

[1] This paper investigates the influence of snow microphysical parameters on the enhancement of ground‐based passive microwave brightness temperature (TB) measurements. In addition to multispectral passive microwave observations between 20 and 150 GHz, a 35 GHz cloud radar and a 2‐D video disdrometer for in situ measurements of snowfall were deployed as part of the “towards an optimal estimati...
متن کاملInferring Snow Water Equivalent for a Snow-Covered Ground Reflector Using GPS Multipath Signals
A nonlinear least squares fitting algorithm is used to estimate both snow depth and snow density for a snow-layer above a flat ground reflector. The product of these two quantities, snow depth and density, provides an estimate of the snow water equivalent. The input to this algorithm is a simple ray model that includes a speculary reflected signal along with a direct signal. These signals are t...
متن کاملSnow and Earthquake Load Combination Considering Snow Accumulation
In certain parts of the USA, both earthquake and snow hazards may be significant. Turkstra’s rule is commonly used for load combinations. However, the rule may not be acceptable for structures that are exposed to both snow and earthquake loads that assume a significant level. In this paper, a hazard simulation computer program (HASP) is developed and Monte Carlo Simulation is performed to inves...
متن کاملGround Temperatures under Ski Pistes with Artificial and Natural Snow
Increasing production of artificial snow in ski resorts is controversially discussed, but only few investigations have been carried out systematically to specify the environmental impacts. We measured snow depth and density from groomed ski pistes (runs) with compacted snow and their effects on ground temperatures and timing of snowmelt. We analyzed groomed pistes with and without artificial sn...
